Sourcebook for Adults with Profound Communication Difficulties

For clients who have limited motor control, with a reliance on a yes/no response and/or eye pointing are the target audience for this, the first of two related sourcebooks for neurodisability.

Its emphasis is on informing carers and giving them the support to work independently with their dependant. Overall, this practical book demonstrates that there is still a lot of work and assessment that can be done to support this type of caseload.

This practical workbook includes:

• Oromotor exercises for face, lip, tongue, jaw and palate.
• Artificulation sheets for each sound in initial medial and final positions as appropriate. Language assessments where clients require only a reliiable yes/no response to answer syntactically complex questions.
• AAC screening form.
• Handouts questionnaire and breathing sheets to hand to carers to explain the type of communication difficulty their dependant is experiencing.

This practical resource can be used by speech and language therapists at any level of experience and contains photocopiable handouts and worksheets, printed in large type for the visually impaired client, which will enable independent working by clients and their carers.
