Katrina Hulme-Cross



Katrina is responsible for commissioning print resources across all subjects within health, social care and education. She has over twelve years’ experience in health publishing, having worked at a number of publishing houses including Blackwell Publishing, Wiley, Taylor and Francis and Cambridge University Press. Katrina has significant experience in book commissioning as well as journal development and acquisition.

Tanya Dean

Editorial & Production

Tanya is responsible for the editorial and production functions of Speechmark. She joined the company in 2009 in the role of Senior Publishing Co-ordinator, then Publishing Team Manager, before her current role. Tanya has 18 years’ experience in publishing, and has held various editorial / production positions working for a number of publishing houses, namely Open University Press / McGraw-Hill Education, Kogan Page and Oxford University Press.

Ameera Qureshi


Ameera is responsible primarily for inbound lead generation – planning, devising the marketing strategy for each of our publications, including appropriate use of different marketing channels. Ameera manages advertisement, social media campaigns, blogs, newsletters, events, and emails as well as working with the authors. She also has a background in Business and Psychology, bringing to the table new perspectives and ideas.

Claire Eastham

UK Sales

Claire is responsible for all UK Sales, managing existing relationships and developing new ones with trade customers, as well as building relationships with councils/local authorities and best supporting the educational needs of each sector. Claire has worked for Penguin Random House and Duckworth, but her main passion lies in education publishing, particularly mental health and emotional wellbeing. She has a Master’s Degree in Publishing and writes freelance for charities such as Mind and Anxiety UK.

Rupert Harbour

International Sales

Rupert is responsible for the management and development of all international sales, with the aim to establish Speechmark as a leading provider of speech and language, mental health and elderly care resources in Europe, the US, and emerging markets. Rupert has over 30 years’ experience and knowledge of all aspects of the book trade, gained through a variety of positions at publishers and book wholesalers.

Rebecca Leakey

Sales & Marketing

Rebecca is responsible for overseeing the Sales and Marketing team for Speechmark Publishing. She joined Speechmark’s parent company, Electric Word plc, in 2012, where she has since held various marketing and sales positions. Rebecca has a BA (Hons) degree in International Business Studies and over 5 years’ experience in working in marketing across various sectors.

Louise Crowe

Digital Development 

With almost twenty years’ experience in publishing, from 2009-2011 Louise served as Publishing Director of the Health Sciences UK division of Elsevier. Prior to this, she spent 14 years at Elsevier Science, which culminated in the position of ePublishing Director of Global Medicine.

Sarah Skinner

Data and eBook

Sarah is responsible for overseeing Speechmark’s eBook programme, in addition to managing data feeds to support sales through third-party e-tailers. Sarah also manages author contracts and foreign rights enquiries. Prior to joining Speechmark in late 2015, Sarah gained a Master's Degree in Publishing from University College London.

Jonathan McKenna

Managing Director

Jonathan is responsible for the day-to-day management of Speechmark Publishing. He joined Speechmark’s parent company, Electric Word plc, in 2013, where he has since held various editorial and publishing positions. Prior to joining Electric Word, Jonathan spent eight years at an STM journal and medical communications publisher, culminating in the position of Associate Publishing Director. Before this, he worked for five years as Managing Editor and Research Analyst in the health and consumer markets divisions of a leading market and business information provider.

Mirko Morello

Business Analyst

Mirko joined Speechmark’s parent company, Electric Word plc, in 2014, and is responsible for providing analysis of current trends and supporting Speechmark’s strategic growth and forecasting across both print and digital portfolios. Mirko has a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and over 10 years’ post-graduate experience in working in finance across various sectors, including consumer, mobile media and oil and gas.
